MOVED!!! FRIDAY, June 27 - Frick Beginner-Intermediate Ride

June 26th, 2008

We are moving the ride to Thursday this week so as to not interfere with the opening festivities for Bike Fest on Friday.Due to the crappy weather, the ride will be on Friday still, i plan on getting to frick around 5, riding for a few hours and then going to BikeFest. Also we are going to be starting the rides at 6:30 at the tennis courts (Braddock & Biddle) instead of 6 until it starts getting dark earlier again. Hopefully this will make it easier for people to join us. Bring water for sure, and lights if you don’t want to go home when the streetlights come on.

Friday, June 27, BIKEFEST!!!!

June 25th, 2008

BikeFest is Pittsburgh’s biggest cycling event for cyclists by cyclists. It’s Bike Pittsburgh’s annual celebration of all things bicycling, showcasing Pittsburgh in all of its uniqueness and beauty. It is not an organized event, but a framework for volunteers and organizations to organize bicycle-themed events. Whether you ride everyday, the weekends, or just always wanted to try, BikeFest has an event for you!

6PM - 12am 121 7th St. — Downtown $20/$15 for Bike PGH members

The kickoff event to our signature Bikefest series is growing.
What was once an informal gathering of cyclists is now Bikefest CBGB — a full-fledged regional cycling event. For year one, we have 13 organizations represented. Each group will have 2 representatives on-site to discuss their activities and how to get involved. Some will have some pretty wild activities. (Um, Bike Tire Bowling? Awesome.)
The production and atmosphere have been upgraded significantly. Restorative Events, Clearstory Creative, and Impact Audio have teamed up to provide a leap in production quality that will leave you amazed. Restorative Events will provide compostable, recyclable and reusable products in all areas of production — the only waste there will be the waste you bring. Clearstory Creative has joined as a sponsor and is adding a substantial lighting and decor effort. Impact Audio finishes the job with their world-class audio rig.
Speaking of that rig — Local ladies Flotilla Way make one of their final appearances. LAZER CRUNK’s Cutups and Keeb$ make a special dance-tastic closing set. Ed Um and DJ Mary Mack will round it out by tearing up the 1s and 2s.
Food/Dessert/Drink — covered. Whole Foods. Brillobox. Dozen. East End Brewing and Coffee Tree Roasters.
Proceeds? They go to Bike Pittsburgh so they can keep on advocating for bikes on behalf of cyclists.
Be there.

FYI DORC is going to be one of the 13 organizations so be sure to wear a dorc shirt and be ready to spread the word!

Wednesday ride at Frick

June 25th, 2008

Larry will be going to Frick today for the ride. Meet him at  THICK at 6 sharp, or at the tennis courts at 6:45. It would be a good idea to bring your fully charged lights (if you got em) , and plenty of fluids!!
